The Blanco Canoe Race is the main fundraising event for Blanco Troop 497. Your contribution helps our Troop have another successful year.
History Boy Scout Canoe Races started in Blanco around 1968 and continued to be an annual event until the early 1980’s. In 2014 we had a limited race with scouts from 4 different troops competing. From 2015 to 2018, we’ve tripled the number of scouts competing to 120 paddlers from about 15 regional Troops. If the trend continues, this year will host about 160 competitors! This year, for the first time we will have a one-heat Kayak race for both adults and scouts 18 and older. Race will be just under 1 mile with zero water current, expect 30 to 45 minutes to complete. There will be two portages around dams, crew must carry their own canoe around portages. Finish line is inside the Blanco State Park. Online registration for the Blanco Annual Canoe Race 2019 is now open at (follow link) https://tinyurl.com/canoerace2019 Blanco Annual Canoe Race 2019
