Cub Scouting is a year-round family program designed for boys and girls who are in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade. Parents, leaders, and organizations work together to achieve the purposes of Cub Scouting, which is to build character, citizenship, and personal fitness, through positive and meaningful adventures. In Cub Scouting you will have lots of fun, adventure, and activities that develop skills and interests with your den and pack. But there is more to it than that. Being a Cub Scout means you are a member of a worldwide youth movement that stands for certain values and beliefs. Cub Scouting is more than something to do. It's all about the child you are and the person you will become.

Then don't let it go dormant over the summer!
Dear cub leader (cubmaster/pack committee chair):
We're almost there; the end of the school year. Den meetings, pack meetings, pack committee meetings are normally suspended over the summer. But, do you want a strong, healthy unit with everyone returning in the fall? Then consider the National Summertime Pack award.
Now, your question is what's that. Well, simply it is doing one pack activity per month in June, July, and August. It allows everyone to stay in contact and remember the joy, friendship and fellowship involved in scouting. And for those who participate, there is bling involved.
Now here's the downside . . . there is paperwork . . . upside, it is a single page. I've attached it so you don't have to hunt for it.
Can't think of anything to do? Here are 75 ideas.
Want to do 57? Our cub day camp is going to be held on June 15th at the LBJ state park just outside Stonewall.
Please bring your completed award sheet to the September roundtable (Thursday, September 5th, 7PM, Johnson City UMC), share your summer activities and your fall recruiting plans!
You are the future of scouting.
Yours in Scouting,
Assistant District Commissioner
